When I started searching for storylines I found a lot of
similarities between Goshogun en Evangelion.

the robot has a pointy thingie on his head	at least one of the robots has a pointy thingie on its head

My expertise on Evangelion doesn't go far enough to find
even more similarities between the two series, but I will try
to search for more on the net. I think it's obvious these kind
of story-lines have their origin somewhere in the Japanese
history, Impact stories probably come from the fact that
Japan was the first country to experience the devastating
effects of the atom-bomb, this goes forth in a lot of anime
stories, the krater of Akira, Evangelion, Goshogun, and
probably a lot of other animes wich I do not yet know of.
